My Story

THIS IS MY STORY

My name is Gianni Giancola and I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2018) with with a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism & Media Studies. Emphasis in Business Management. 

 

I recently exited an exciting decade long stint working in the music and entertainment industry. I hyper focused on live and local, covering many of Las Vegas' happenings and events.

 

I live, breathe and eat the digital landscape. I study algorithms, trends and updates for various of social platforms. 

When I am not working, I collect Squishmallows (stuffed animal phenomenon) and make short form content with them.

 

I love to attend concerts of all genres and music festivals. I have been to over 100 concerts in my lifetime.

 

I am a family oriented individual who takes quality time. Growing up Italian, I grew an appreciation for my loved ones and my carbs.

 

You may see me frequent the Disneyland Resort as I am what they call a "Disney Adult." I was an annual pass holder and hope to become one again soon.

  • ​I worked weekends hosting my own overnight radio show where I played TOP 40 hits.

  • Coordinated social media posts for Entercom Las Vegas' cluster of radio stations: 98.5 KLUC, Mix 94.1, X107.5 and Q100.5.

  • Create and draft topical stories for each radio station's website.

  • I worked promotional events such as toy drives, easter egg hunts, back-to-school drives and more along side a street team.

  • Communicated with listeners for ticket pick-ups. 

  • Drove station vehicles for events and errands.

  • Attend weekly meetings for station updates, brain-storming sessions and policy changes. 

  • I scheduled social media posts via three different platforms using Social News Desk and Sprout Social.

  • I took photos for private artist and celebrity events at the station.

  • Work closely with the official digital director via texts and emails for new content. 

  • Voice of the brand by familiarizing myself with the company’s mission, vision, and goals.

  • Educating customers on the value of our experience with important messages, visuals and promotions.

  • Strategize and help implement media tactics to gain social media presence. 

  • Clean the facility to make each new day a fresh and fun experience. 

  • Launch their TokTok account with a few peers to gain traction for new customers.

Breakdown Rise Up

BreakdownRiseUp is a non-profit organization under the Southern Nevada Health District. Breakdown breaks down the myths of tobacco smoke, hookah and vaping by rising up with the truth.

 

We center our focus on high school student achievements specifically in sports.

My name is Gianni Giancola.

Working for Breakdown Rise Up is fun, challenging yet rewarding. Everyday is a NEW day to educate and relate to high schoolers. We use the power of social media and goal oriented drawing boards to educate the youth of Southern Nevada.  

 

We attend school lunch periods to give students a break during their day. We bring out Cultureshock Las Vegas (dance crew), a LIVE DJ, educational pamphlets, exclusive #BREAKDOWN swag for students. Us physically being in the schools helps bring light to this serious cause.

Las Vegas Community 

Here are a few stand out events, 5k walks, non-profits that I was fortunate to work along side of and be apart of.

Entercom Communications' 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas' #1 Hit Music Station hosts the 20th annual Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive.

98.5 KLUC Toy Drive:

The Chet Buchanan Show Drive takes place at the NV Energy parking lot for 12 days long. I was able to collect and manage monetary donations, deliver list of donation names for LIVE broadcast in a timely manner, load toys into and out of trucks, interview guests, clean and maintain workspace, hang banners, direct teammates when needed and post social media for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Have been a part of 5 Chet Buchanan Toy Drives. 

Entercom Communications' 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas' #1 Hit Music Station hosts the 17th annual Chet Buchanan Show Toy Drive.

This document is a social media recommendations assignment I completed while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

 

I monitored Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the entire duration of the toy drive noting improvements when necessary.

WALK FOR WISHES 5K WALK:

Walk For Wishes is one of two annual fundraising events Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada hosts to help grant wishes to local children battling critical illnesses.

I have participated two years in-a-row by hosting a booth where we interacted with fellow runners by playing games, handing out prizes, taking photos and posted social media posts for Entercom Communications. Have attended as a walker in years prior with high school school club.

Entercom Communications hosted a booth with the Make A Wish Foundation Las Vegas. We raise awareness each year while also making a difference. 

A college assignment to show the significance of a major event in the Las Vegas community without sound.

ZAPPOS - Food Drive:

Zappos teamed up with Entercom Communications, Salvation Army, Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Community Drive to collect food for people in need during Hurricane Harvey. 

It was a great feeling to be a part of a food collection to help others around the world. We ended up collecting somewhere around four to five Walmart trucks FULL of food and non perishables for victims of Hurricane Harvey. 

NPHY (Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth) - Backpack / School Supplies Drive:

Entercom teamed up with NPHY to participate in helping Las Vegas youth get prepared for academic success with backpacks and school supplies

I was able to assist in not only playing music, showing up but being able to walk students around making sure they were ready to go with all of the academic essentials. It puts in perspective how not everyone is as fortunate to be able to purchase the necessities. 

Defeat The Heat Campaign:

Entercom teamed up with the RTC of Southern Nevada for their Summer Heat Safety Campaign at the Bonneville transit center.

We handed out FREE ice cold water to keep the tranist riders cool during the hot Las Vegas weather. I also assisted with handing out sandwiches from Port of Subs, donuts from Dunkin' Donuts and prizes! This is an amazing campaign because staying hydrated is important especially during the summer months.
